# Assistants and slash commands

> Route brand chat to the right daoco specialist with natural language or slash commands.

You can ask naturally in brand chat. Use slash commands when you already know which workflow you want.

Type `/` in the chat input to open the command menu. Commands match the specialists daoco can run in a thread.

| Command        | Best for                                                                                                                                              |

| `/research`    | Public research and connected-account insights that are not SEO-specific.                                                                             |
| `/brand` | Refreshing brand evidence, reviewing proposed updates, and applying approved brand changes. |
| `/integration` | Connected provider work through [integrations](/connections/integrations), including Shopify, Square, WordPress, Notion, and other enabled providers. |

<Info>
  Use `/integration` for connected-provider reads and approved actions.
</Info>

The integration command works with providers connected on the [Connections](/connections/integrations) page.

## When to use commands

* Use a command for a clear task with a known destination.
* Ask naturally when the task spans multiple surfaces or you want daoco to choose the order of work.
* Continue in the same thread when you want daoco to retain context.
* Start a new thread when the topic, brand assumption, or campaign goal changes substantially.

## Multi-step work in one thread

daoco can chain specialists without you managing the handoffs. Examples:

* Research, then write copy, then draft a post.
* Generate visuals, then package them into a post preview.
* Run SEO analysis, then ask for rewritten page copy in the same thread.

Research-heavy, clip, campaign, and integration tasks often appear as **specialist run cards** in the transcript while they run. Results stay in the same conversation when they finish.

## Approvals and integrations

Publishing and scheduling always require your approval, even when you used a slash command. Brand apply and integration writes follow your brand's [approval preferences](/account-and-billing/approval-preferences): connected integrations can auto-allow some writes when **Auto when connected** is enabled, while publish-now and destructive MCP actions always stay gated. Connect the relevant providers from **Connections** before using `/integration`.
