# Paid ads

> Audit your ad accounts, review the week, apply the fixes, block wasted searches, and launch tested creative as paused ads on Google, Meta, LinkedIn, and TikTok.

Connect an ad account and Daoco can read it, tell you where the money goes, and build new ads in it. It works with [Google Ads](https://docs.daoco.org/connections/mcp/google-ads.md), [Meta Ads](https://docs.daoco.org/connections/mcp/meta-ads.md), [LinkedIn Ads](https://docs.daoco.org/connections/mcp/linkedin-ads.md), and [TikTok Ads](https://docs.daoco.org/connections/mcp/tiktok-ads.md). Connect them from **Connections** -> **Integrations** -> **Ads**.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Paid ads is a [preview feature](https://docs.daoco.org/preview-features/overview.md). A workspace owner or admin turns it on in **Settings** -> **Preview features**. Until then the Google, Meta, and TikTok Ads connections, the ad cards in **Next steps**, and the assistant's Paid ads focus area are hidden. LinkedIn Ads can be connected without the preview, and [making changes on LinkedIn](https://docs.daoco.org/connections/mcp/linkedin-ads.md#what-daoco-can-change) is in early access. `/ads-audit` and `/ads-review` run without the preview on the accounts you can connect, and name any platform they skipped. `/ads-fixes`, `/ads-negatives`, `/ads-launch`, and `/competitor-ads` need the preview.

Daoco never spends money on its own. New campaigns and ads start paused, every change waits for your approval in the thread, and approving one kind of change doesn't approve another.

## Find wasted spend with `/ads-audit`

`/ads-audit` reads each connected ad account in its own step and ends with fixes ranked by the money at stake. It covers the last 30 days, or 90 when an account spent little.

| Platform | What it checks |
| - | - |
| Google Ads | Search terms and keywords that spent without converting, broad-match terms that are off-topic for your business, Performance Max or Display spend on your own brand name, campaigns limited by budget, impression share lost to budget against lost to rank, ad groups with no responsive search ad, disapproved ads, and conversion actions that recorded nothing |
| Meta Ads | Ad sets and ads that spent without a result, creative fatigue (frequency rising while click-through falls), budgets spread too thin to leave learning, optimization events that recorded nothing, and rejected ads |
| LinkedIn Ads | Campaigns that spent without a conversion or lead, who actually saw the ads compared with your audience, Audience Network and audience expansion results, lead forms opened far more often than submitted |
| TikTok Ads | Ads that spent without a result, creative fatigue, videos that lose most viewers in the first 2 seconds, optimization events that recorded nothing, and rejected ads |

Each fix names the account, the numbers behind it, and the exact change: the negative keywords to add and at what level, the ads to pause, the budget to move and where. It also says whether Daoco can make that change for you with approval, or whether you make it in the ad platform. Nothing changes until you ask.

If you connect an ad account while setting up a brand, Daoco runs an audit when setup finishes. It shows up as **Ad accounts** on the analysis card.

Name a platform or account to audit just that one, as in `/ads-audit Google Ads, brand campaigns only`.

## Review the week with `/ads-review`

`/ads-review` compares the last 7 days with the 7 before, platform by platform, and ends in decisions: what to keep, scale, and cut, the budget moves that pay for it inside your current spend, and one test to run next with the metric that decides it. When the numbers say you should spend more, it says so as a separate decision for you.

Ask for another window if a week is too short, as in `/ads-review last 30 days against the 30 before`. To get it every Monday, turn on the **Paid ads** [focus area](https://docs.daoco.org/core-workflows/assistants-and-slash-commands.md#focus-areas) for your assistant. It reports in the assistant's channel, and you can ask it to "run the ads review now" at any time.

## Apply the fixes with `/ads-fixes`

Run `/ads-fixes` in the thread where an audit or review ran, or name the fixes in your message. For each connected platform it:

* reads the current numbers first, and skips a fix that no longer holds;
* pauses the campaigns, ad groups or ad sets, and ads the fixes name;
* moves budget without raising an account's total daily budget, unless your message sets a new total;
* adds the Google Ads negative keywords the fixes name.

Every change waits for your approval in the thread, and the report lists what changed, what's waiting, what it skipped, and what you need to change in the ad platform yourself. It never deletes anything, turns on something that was already paused, or changes bids or targeting.

## Block wasted searches with `/ads-negatives`

`/ads-negatives` reads your Google Ads search terms for the last 30 days and finds the ones that spent without converting, or that can never be a buyer, such as people looking for jobs or a free version. It picks the narrowest match type that stops each one, checks every negative against the searches that did convert, and adds them to their campaigns after your approval. The report shows what each negative would have saved over that period.

It never blocks a search that converted, your own brand name, or a competitor's name. It lists those for you to decide.

## See what competitors run with `/competitor-ads`

`/competitor-ads` reads the ads your competitors run, from Meta's Ad Library for Facebook and Instagram and from Google's Ads Transparency Center for Google Search, YouTube, Shopping, and Display. It uses the competitors you name, or the ones tracked on your brand, up to five. You don't need an ad account connected.

| Source | What you get |
| - | - |
| Meta's Ad Library | Each active ad's copy, call to action, landing page, format, platforms, start date, how many days it has run, and how many variants it has, in your main market |
| Google's Ads Transparency Center | How many ads each competitor runs by format, the ones that have run longest, and the newest, each with its preview image and link. Google doesn't publish the copy of these ads. |

Neither source shows spend or results for commercial ads, so the report never claims them. An ad that has run for months is the best public sign it works. The report ends with the angles competitors repeat, the ones nobody covers, and three angles to test with [`/ad-test`](#launch-tested-creative-with-ads-launch).

A run makes up to seven paid lookups, about 5 cents in data fees at most, which come out of your workspace balance with the run's tokens, like other research. To get it every Wednesday, switch on **Competitor ads** in the assistant's Paid ads focus area.

## Launch tested creative with `/ads-launch`

[`/ad-test`](https://docs.daoco.org/core-workflows/assistants-and-slash-commands) writes four angles for one offer and makes each one in square, vertical, and landscape sizes. `/ads-launch` then builds that set in your ad account:

1. It uses the platform you name, or your only connected one. With several connected, it asks which.
2. It reads the account and existing campaigns, and asks once for anything it needs and doesn't know, such as a daily budget or landing page. It never guesses a budget.
3. It puts every variant in one campaign and one ad group or ad set, with the same budget, audience, and landing page, so the angle is the only thing that differs. Each ad is named after its angle.
4. It creates everything paused, after your approval.

Turning the ads on is your call, in the ad platform or by asking Daoco to enable the campaign, which needs its own approval.

On Google Ads, responsive display ads need a landscape image of at least 600 x 314 and a square one of at least 300 x 300, and responsive search ads go into an existing Search ad group. If the set is missing a size a platform needs, Daoco names it and skips that ad instead of stretching an image.

## What isn't covered yet

* Adding keywords, changing bids, editing targeting, and adding negatives to shared lists or ad groups on Google Ads. The audit tells you the exact change to make.
* Reading competitors' ads from LinkedIn's or TikTok's ad libraries.
* Microsoft Advertising, Reddit, Pinterest, Snapchat, and Amazon ads.
* Conversion tracking setup. The audit reports tracking that recorded nothing, and you fix it in the ad platform.
